Bach in counterpoint with two ultra-modern composers, here is a programme which fits the Iranian-American harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani like a glove. Indeed, he comments, it is J.S. Bach who brought him to know and appreciate all music. And the unconventional musical choices don’t stop there: as a matter of fact, to spice up Bach’s Concerto our soloist chooses a surprising cadence by Johannes Brahms.
